The power of asking yourself these 6 questions as a Kids Life Coach

Uncategorized Nov 11, 2024

As a Kids Life Coach, diving deep into the heart of why you do what you do isn't just beneficial—it's essential. Your purpose, or your "big why," is the compass that guides your decisions, shapes your coaching strategies, and lights the path for the children and families you support. But how do you uncover this guiding beacon? It all starts with asking yourself the right questions at the right time!

What I have learnt over my many years of coaching children, is that there is a difference between merely going through the motions and making a profound impact. Anybody can tick off a task list and smile at the end of the day but what about the long term outcomes? To me underlying motivations and goals are what count.

Asking myself the right questions has helped me to peel back the layers of my surface-level desires to help children to reveal the core of my passion and purpose as a global children's change maker. These questions have encouraged me to have introspection, fostered my  clarity, and paved the way for my own meaningful, purpose-driven action.

Try out these 6 questions for fit and see the shift happen....

1. What drew me to kids' life coaching?
Reflect on the moment or series of events that led you to this path. Was it a personal experience, a desire to make a difference, or something else? Understanding your initial attraction to this field can illuminate your deeper motivations.

2. What aspect of kids' life coaching am I most passionate about?
Is it empowering children to overcome challenges, supporting families in nurturing positive dynamics, or perhaps something else like combatting eating disorders or building confidence or skills transfer to children who have been labelled? Identifying the facets of your work that ignite your passion can help focus your efforts and enhance your impact.

3. Whose life do I want to impact the most, and why?
This is linked slightly to the previous question and will come down to the niche you have decided to serve. Consider the specific group or type of children you feel most called to help because of your interest but mostly because of your personal experience. Reflecting on the 'why' behind your choice can reveal much about your values and purpose.

4. What change do I want to see in the world through my coaching?
Envision the broader impact of your coaching and being part of our global community of world class kids life coaches. This question helps connect your day-to-day activities with a larger purpose, giving your work greater meaning and direction.

5. How do I define success in my coaching practice?
Success can mean different things to different types of coaches. For some, it's about the number of children helped; for others, it's about the depth of transformation in each child. Defining what success looks like for you can guide your efforts and measure your progress. At Kids Life Studio®, we always say that our success is dependent on the success of the children we coach.

6. What legacy do I want to leave through my coaching?
Thinking long-term about the mark you want to leave on the world can be a powerful motivator. It can also help ensure that your actions today are aligned with the future you wish to create. I will never be a biological mother, but yet I am a mother to many children I will never meet and I am focused on leaving my legacy as committed to "rebranding childhood" through play!

Once you've pondered these questions, take time to reflect on your answers and journal on them - this may take time so don't rush it! These are important questions. They hold the key to understanding your big why and harnessing it to fuel your journey as a Kids Life Coach. Remember, your purpose is a living, breathing entity that may evolve as you grow personally and professionally.

Remember that in order for these questions to come alive, you need to surround yourself with likeminded professionals who share your vision. In the end, knowing your purpose isn't just about enhancing your effectiveness as a coach—it's about bringing more joy, fulfilment, and impact to your work and to the people you get to work with. When you're clear on your big why, every challenge becomes more manageable, and every success feels more meaningful. Your coaching practice will flourish and grow exponentially when you serve and grow according to your WHY!

For me, the journey of being a Kids Life Coach has been one of profound impact and fulfilment, and it all started with asking myself the right questions. You can do the same!
