Kids Life Studio® Coach Academy
Today I was speaking to a lovely lady who wants to enrol in our Kids Life Coach certification but she was stuck in fear...
I told her that was perfectly normal and that she needed to start discerning between facts and feelings.
Fact: "Will I know enough to coach children?"
I told doing our kids life coach training would equip her to coach children responsibly, ethically and sustainably! Knowledge is power! If she spends time working through our Kids Life Coach Training, she will know have a solid foundation to build onto.
Feeling: "Am I good enough to coach children?
I told her you are only as good as the last child you have coached! Experience and confidence comes with practice! Even the coaches I have trained who never had any experience working with children have excelled because we do a LOT of work building a theoretical foundation but we also work on mindset. Both a duality of importance.
She needs to do some transformational work....it will take time but with effort she will be coaching children and getting results with our 10-step system within 4 to 6 months! Will it take work? For sure...she will have to roll up her sleeves and do the hard graft. Working with children needs a solid foundation of knowledge that is not only trauma informed but also grounded in scientifically proven research. All of this we cover in my Kids Life Coach Certification training.
After explaining all of this to her in our Strategy Call she asked me this: what if I coach children and I am not good at it? Can I quit?
My answer was that quitting isn't always a failure.
I didn't accept her into our Premium Fast Track package because she needs to first believe in the concept of Kids Life Coaching. If she doesn't...she won't make a positive impact. This isn't about me convincing her because I know it works...it is about her overcoming her own fears whatever those may be.
I only invite people into our training programme that I know will maximise our individualised mentorship and coaching we give them. This lady wasn't ready. She will get there...for everybody it is a process that is steeped in trusting the process.
However, if you want to do this kind of work and you have fears, you need to listen to them. Look at the story they are telling you. Maybe this isn't this ladies calling? Being a children's change maker is about knowing deep down in your core this is what you want to do and you are willing to do whatever it takes to do it!
I suspect this lovely lady doesn't really have children as her calling. Her fears stem from not knowing if this will fulfil her. Which is perfectly valid but I always say that it's better to quit while you are ahead. Rather than invest her substantial time and money into training with us, she would be better off finding out what makes her jump out of bed in the morning with a smile on her face and a skip in her step. If she doesn't "feel it" then she shouldn't do it!
If you have been thinking about becoming a kids life coach and you are scared, that's okay. Anything new is scary and especially if you are wanting to transition out of an existing career you love (like I did with teaching!) or pivoting into a totally new career.
Happy to talk and help you find your direction and maybe alleviate some of your invalid fears. All you need to do is fill in a statement of interest, do a bit of homework by exploring what we do, perhaps look at some of our testimonials and let's talk!
Overcoming your fear is easy when you know how and you know your why and remember if it doesn't feel right after you've done all your homework, it probably isn't right and quitting isn't always a failure!
