We are celebrating the UN International Day of Play - 11 June 2024
What a great Kids Life Studio® group strategy session we had today! With the United Nations announcing their brand new inaugural International Day of Play, last week, we spent time speaking through ideas to become involved as a global network of Kids Life Coaches.
Global research in the Lego Play Well Study 2024, surveying more than 25,000 children across 36 countries revealed that as many as 73% of children don’t believe adults take play – and how it can help them learn – seriously.
As Play Based Coaches, we consider ourselves in a privileged position to support children to grow, learn, think, understand and apply their goal setting strategies in a playful but meaningful way. We play with a purpose and its time to get engaged and involved in this ongoing conversation on the declining rates of play in childhood!
We are all "Play Ambassadors" and to celebrate the wonderful work all of us are doing, you can prepare yourself and become involved in the following ways:
1. We are compiling a fun booklet of easy 10 minute family play ideas to help parents to engage more meaningfully with their children. Send your contribution (step by step instructions with photos, resources, props and videos where applicable) to [email protected] by 30 April 2024. You will be credited for your contribution and be an official part of this exciting publication! The aim is to make it easy to play as a family everyday and we know you have great ideas so we look forward to hearing from you!
2. Read the Young Peoples call to action report to familiarise yourself on what children want and what they need for this International Day of Play. Click here to download.
3. Share the International Day of Play Campaign video with your network in a newsletter or on social media to announce your commitment to being a Play Ambassador. Click here to watch.
4. Create a short video of your own announcing your Play Ambassador status as a Kids Life Studio® Coach. Share this to your social media followers in the next few weeks, to give them advance notice to join you in your celebrations during the month of June. A watch this space....kind of video! To plan your engaging video content, visit the Lego Foundation for insights, inspiration, statistics and information. Showcase your passion and personality and don't be scared to play or involve your coachees in this video!! Send it to us and we will share it on our channels.
5. Visit the official International Day of Play website to get your toolkit of social media resources to use during the month of June. Click here to download available resources. We will also be creating Kids Life Studio® resources and your ideas are welcomed so mail us.
6. Join our upcoming strategy sessions announced in our membership group! We will continue to discuss ideas together so that we are ready for a clear, coherent and inspirational rollout.
