The Business Behind the Passion: Building a Sustainable Kids Life Coaching Practice

One thing I know first hand having coached children for the past few decades is that if you don't have a passion for doing this work...you won't get very far. But...I have also learnt through training students around the world to launch their own Kids Life Coaching practices that there is one very important ingredient to building a sustainable Kids Life Coaching practice and you may not like what I am about to say...

So let's start with a soft landing....As coaches passionate about working with children, it's natural to want to dive headfirst into the aspect of our work that fuels us the most: coaching itself. The joy of guiding, mentoring, and witnessing the transformation in young lives is undeniably fulfilling - it certainly leaves me feeling 'warm and fuzzy'.

But is passion enough? Sadly, I have seen so many passionate students not excel in launching their Kids Life Coaching practice full time. The journey from a passionate student to a passionate certified Kids Life Studio® coach to a successful owner of a Kids Life Coaching practice involves more than just passion. It requires you to have a solid foundation in business principles to ensure sustainability and effectiveness. This is a reality many well-meaning Kids Life Coaches overlook in their eagerness to make an impact.

Running a full-time Kids Life Coaching practice is exactly like running any other business. It demands attention to systems, processes, and strategies that go beyond your coaching sessions. These elements are crucial for building a practice that not only reaches but also positively affects more children. Without these in place, even the most passionate coaches can find themselves overwhelmed, leading to burnout and a decrease in the quality of coaching provided and sadly closing their doors and having to abandon their dreams of being a children's change maker.
