Robin Sharma believes in the power of life coaching for children

Uncategorized Aug 31, 2018

Robin Sharma...author of The Monk who sold his Ferrari is somebody I respect highly in the adult coaching space. Here are his 10 wishes that he says he holds for the new world we are building. I believe that as children's change makers, they are especially applicable and he often speaks of children and also supports his own foundation for children.

He gives the advice:

"No kid is perfect. But could I gently suggest that today, you make a commitment to celebrating the best within children. Make them feel special. Help them stand proud."

This is what my global network and I coach kids to understand at a young age. Our tag line at The Kids Life Studio is "where choices are made easy." The transformation we see when children make good choices is magical. They stand proud and success breeds success which is so powerful!

Here is what Robin Sharma says:

#1. I wish for a world where everyone understands that discomfort is the price of legendary. And fear is just...

Adding value as a Kids Life Coach

Uncategorized Aug 27, 2018

What are your values?

The reason I ask is this...

In my 15 years of being a Kids Life Coach and having trained hundreds of people globally to use my methods I have noticed that there are two kinds of people...

1. The first kind is a teller. The one who is passionate about children and loves to “help” them but their own life is a mess (for a short while when I didn’t know any better that was me...I tell more in my book The Secret Parent)

2. The second kind is the doer. The one who is passionate about educating, enabling, equipping and empowering children through leading by example.

As part of my Kids Life Coach training I allocate a personal Mentor Coach to each student to map out a unique blueprint that paves the road for their success as a coach.

Now for some this may not seem important...but here is my Kids Life Coaching tip for you....

If you want to coach children and you don’t have your own plan mapped out based on your values, vision and...

The proven 10-step system that guarantees success as a Kids Life Coach

Uncategorized Aug 24, 2018

As an ex teacher one of my biggest strengths is that I am all about systems and procedures. I also love measuring results and determining what needs to be tweaked, adapted and moulded to maximise future positive outcomes.

For this reason, when I train and certify my Kids Life Coaches, I give them a 10-step process that I have personally been using with great success over the past 15 years.

If you want to see what makes us unique and also the leader globally in Kids Life Coaching, take a look...

If you are a life coach for children and you don't have a system in place...you are setting yourself up for failure!

Also...if you are doing things by trial and error you are compromising the children you are working with.

I really encourage you to stop figuring things out and do extra training on this. Speak to me...happy to help!

Regards with Zeal,

Zelna

Trial and error is not the answer when you are a life coach for children

Uncategorized Aug 09, 2018

When I first started coaching children 15 years ago there were no official certifications like there are today....

I had no other option but to dive in and research, explore, educate and develop myself. So I learnt all about:

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
EQ (Emotional Intelligence)
Social Psychology
Positive Psychology
Life Coaching

I attended courses and became familiar in all of them. Thinking they would help me coach...but they didn’t...

It was only when I took the best parts of each and put them into my own coaching model that I started feeling confident!

Yet I was constantly worried...

Was I getting it right?
What if I couldn’t help a child?
What if I did more damage than good?
What if parents didn’t see results?

Fast track to today and I am super confident and have a global network of world class trained Kids Life Coaches who are brand ambassadors for my organisation The Kids Life Studio.

How did I do this...

Lots of...

What does a Kids Life Coach do?

Uncategorized Aug 01, 2018

You are probably reading this because you are interested in coaching children. My guess is that deep down you feel you have a calling, a purpose bigger than yourself. You want to make a difference? Am I on track so far?

Whether that purpose is coaching your own child to become a leader or supporting other people's children, I know that you are reading this blog because you have a fire in your belly that has been prompted by all the challenges that you are seeing children facing.

I can assure you that there is nothing more rewarding than knowing that you have made a positive impact in a child's life. Not just an impact that is short lived but something that will lay the foundation for their entire adult life. How do I know this? Many of the children I have coached are now successful adults. For example, I have a Doctor, an Accountant, an international model, a very ambitious entrepreneur, a head of an international charity. All of them still in touch with me because I made an impact...

Zig Ziglar says you are at the top of your game as a Kids Life Coach when you do these things

Uncategorized Jul 30, 2018

Love these insights from one of my all time heroes, Zig Ziglar for the work he did with children. Something to truly aspire to as a Kids Life Coach. Worth a read...

“You are at the Top when...

You clearly understand that failure is an event, not a person, that yesterday ended last night, and today is your brand new day.

You have made friends with your past, are focused on the present, and optimistic about your future.

You know that success doesn't make you and failure doesn't break you.

You are filled with faith, hope and love; and live without anger, greed, guilt, envy or thoughts of revenge.

You are mature enough to delay gratification and shift your focus from your rights to your responsibilities.

You know that failure to stand for what is morally right is the prelude to being the victim of what is criminally wrong.

You are secure in who you are, so you are at peace with God and in fellowship with man.

You have made friends of your adversaries, and have gained the love...

Kids Life Coaching is about harnessing and nurturing a child’s strengths.

Uncategorized Jul 27, 2018

So many adults focus on what’s wrong and only when they see a child having a problem they try to put interventions in place.

There are 4 types of parents that I have identified. The type my global network of Kids Life Coaches and I like to work with most are the proactive ones!

This is the parent who realises that life throws curve balls and they know they don’t always have the capacity to stay objective in their child’s journey.

They understand the value in having a neutral and objective professional such as a Kids Life Coach equipping their children with a toolkit for life.

Rather than waiting for things to go wrong (because a problem will eventually arise...) they put measures in place beforehand to build resilience.

My tip to you is to focus on educating parents on the benefits of coaching. Even if the parent is not proactive and they may be part of the problem, I recommend always coming from a non judgemental viewpoint.

In my opinion....Parents don’t...

As a Kids Life Coach, be who you needed when you were younger

Uncategorized Jul 10, 2018

The quote: "Be who you needed when you were younger" sums up Kids Life Coaching!

I believe every child deserves a mentor and role model to hold their hand through the ‘storms’ of life!

Yes parents are supposed to do this!
BUT....
In my experience when they bring their own emotions into situations they cannot do justice to the support their child needs.

If a parent themselves is unable to manage their own life then how can they support their child?

A Kids Life Coach remains objective and gives perspective! They keep it realistic but at the same time stretch the child past previous problems, challenges or mistakes!

Kids life coaching when done properly... (in my opinion) is therapy, counselling, personal development, skills training, motivation, emotional literacy and inspiration all rolled into one!

Want to know how we do this....our secret 10-step process is what sets our global network of Kids Life Studio Coaches apart! Take a look...

The 5 Reasons children behave badly and need Kids Life Coaching

Uncategorized Jul 02, 2018

There are five, very common reasons why children misbehave. It is extremely useful for a Kids Life Coach to know these because if you can pinpoint the root cause of the misbehavior, you can be more successful at reducing it.

1) They want to test whether adults will enforce rules.

A child's main job is to figure out how their complex world works and in order to master the things they need at each developmental level they will test the adults who care for them which are usually their parents. They are literally trying to see where the boundaries are, or, if they exist at all. To coach a child means getting them used to boundaries and limits.  This way, their children will adopt positive values and gain self-esteem.

2) They experience different sets of expectations

Children will misbehave if they are held to expectations that are beyond their developmental levels. Consistency is hugely important in making a child feel safe and secure and able to have a comfortable...

Why children shouldn't be allowed to drive a bus without a Kids Life Coach on board

Uncategorized Jun 01, 2018

I want you to imagine you are a 10-year old child and you right now are driving a bus without adult supervision. You can't reach the pedals, you don't know the rules of the road, you are responsible for the people on the bus, but yet nobody has taught you the skills to be responsible as a bus driver. You need supervision, but there isn't anybody to show you or help you.

Being a child, you may see this challenge in one of two ways:

1) just get on with it and you see the adventure and you embrace it whole heartedly or

2) You are filled with fear of what could go wrong and you ask for help.

Which do you think you would have felt as a 10-year old? No matter which you choose, there is a high likelihood of crashing the bus. How would you feel when you get blamed as a 10-year old for crashing the bus if an adult irresponsibly let you drive it in the first place.

This is like a beautiful analogy for your own inner child where your subconscious mind drives your behaviour based on our...
